West Atlanta Pediatrics Proudly Supports 2nd ANNUAL ATLANTA KIDS TRIATHLON COMMUNITY OUTREACH KIDS TRI & CHOA WINS
As a charitable organization, our mission is to “help build a generation of healthy, active and responsible kids.” We cannot do this alone, and we recognize the important role pediatricians play in the growth and development of kids. In this spirit, this program was developed to provide you with a cool way to promote the value of daily exercise and good nutrition to your patients while creating an opportunity for you to support Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Best of all, we do almost all of the work. We supply all printed materials (brochures, posters and postcards) along with suggested scripts for emails and blog posts. In addition, we handle all registration, reporting and event organization. You simply help us spread the word.
Some Important Details:
The #1 objective is for the kids to see that being healthy and active can be fun.
The program is very flexible, but it usually works best when 2 or 3 people in the office embrace the effort and actively encourage kids to participate.
Regardless of the current activity levels of the kids, triathlon is a great sport. The healthy habits of swimming, biking and running have proven to have a lasting impact on kids (and their families). Kids embrace the variety and repetitive motion injuries and burnout are virtually eliminated. Please see the next page to learn more about the tangible impact our efforts are having.
Building a team is easy. Obviously, your recommendation of the event to kids and parents is the start. It is a great time of year to distribute race brochures during well visits, and posters, emails and blog posts can help increase awareness. Let us know what you want to do, and we will support you every step of the way.
The fundraising component is simple. $10 of every $35 registration fee generated by your office will be donated back to CHOA. After the race, we will count the number of kids on your roster and make the donation on your behalf. Plain and simple. 40 kids on your team equals a $400 donation.
Registration is easy. You can direct parents to visit AtlantaKidsTriathlon.org. Once there, they can register on-line or download a paper registration form, complete it and mail it to us with their payment.
For more information about how to get a team started or to officially form an Atlanta Kids Triathlon Team, please contact our team coordinator, Wes Hires. He can be reached at 904.448.2460 or through email at Wes@KidsTriathlonInc.org.
